VILNIUS - Zilvinas Silgalis has threatened to leave the ruling coalition, a move which would result in a minority government that would potentially make it very difficult to push its agenda through parliament.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius said his ruling coalition planned to continue its work even if the lawmaker leaves his coalition in the minority.

He said there were numerous examples - particularly in the northern european countries - where a minority government managed to operate normally.
