Advanced eBanking comes to Estonia, as Tallinn Business Bank Aripank has selected Todos' latest design smart card reader, the A300. Tallinn Business Bank aims to be among the leading online banks in Estonia. "In a competitive market usability is as important as functionality. This is why the bank turned to Todos. It combines the latest security technology with sleek Scandinavian design," says the company. What is becoming more important to technology users today are features that include secure authentication for online purchases, along with greater ease of use. Since Aripank currently offers five different debit and credit cards, it expects this new product to make life easier for customers. It also cuts the bank's costs because it doesn't need to issue new cards.

A target group of volunteers, consisting of former police officers in cooperation with other groups, plans to organize a common Estonian team for searching for missing persons. According to one of rescue workers, Aare Rjuitel, searches in particular
districts will be divided into two groups - operative and planning - reports Internet portal Ohtuleht.ee. "In the case of operative searches it is necessary to react very fast, taking into consideration the fact that if the person is in trouble and lost somewhere, he will require very fast aid as time is a very important factor. Time flies and it is necessary to do everything quickly in order to help, otherwise it turns to tragedy," says Rjuitel. According to the group's captain, Venno Slugen, the team will work even in extreme situations and plans to use special equipment.

The Tallinn City Council has sponsored the Lasnamae district in the opening of a new
canteen to serve the needy. According to Estonian internet news portal Raepress, on Sept. 7, Tallinn mayor Edgar Savisaar and vice-mayor Merike Meritson took part in the opening day at the food kitchen. Meritson and Savisaar served up free meals to those in attendance, the main meal being the traditional hot soup. The mayor made himself useful and spent the entire day serving meals. He explained that he hopes that his participation would be a good example for society, in promoting civil relations towards those in need. Other locations besides the Lasnamae district are available in Tallinn for the needy to receive free meals.
