Telecommunication giant gets new leaders

VILNIUS (ELTA) – The board of Lietuvos Telekomas Co., whose 60 percent stake was bought by Swedish-Finnish concern Amber Teleholdings, elected new leaders of the company last week.
Former Communication Minister Gintautas Zintelis became chairman of the newly elected board.
Sonera Co. representative Pentii Matii Tapio Paarma, a Finn, who worked in Latvia before, now becomes Director General. Former Director General of Lietuvos Telekomas Gintautas Pangonis, a Lithuanian, will be Executive Director. Telia Co. representative Haakan Jansson, a Swede, is appointed to the post of top financier.
On July 7, the agreement was signed on the $510 million purchase of a 60 percent stake of Lietuvos Telekomas by Amber Teleholdings concern, uniting Sonera and Telia companies.
Lietuvos Telekomas shareholders elected a new 10-member board at their meeting. Six of the board members represent Amber Teleholdings, the other four, the Lithuanian government and several legal entities.
