Police sell building to pay salaries

RIGA-  In order to pay police salaries, the Interior Ministry isplanning to sell the State Police building on Aspazijas street.

 "Along with that, we are saving 4.5 million lats, which canpay 2500 police salaries," sid Interior Minster Linda Murniece.

 The ministry hopes to sell the building, but their optimismmay be too much. The current real estate market is slowing down.

The InteriorMinistry reports that some real estate companies have valued the building at 1.2million lats, others at 4 million.

 

Murniece said she viewed both those prices as the lower endof the scale.
