RIGA - The Latvian parliament has adopted a bill providing for reduction of wages of Latvia's members of the European Parliament.

The amendments prepared by the parliament's legal committee provide for a reduction of financing by 15 percent.

"We are aware that the savings will be very small, but it is a principle of solidarity," said legal committee's chairman Vineta Muizniece.

In late February the parliament passed similar amendments providing for a reduction of Latvian lawmakers' wages by 15 percent from March 1.
