TALLINN - The recently released Estonian anti-corruption strategy report has found that the police need more officers investigating corruption in order to help clamp down on the problem.

The report gives an overview of the more important activities of anti-corruption strategy and of the aims achieved last year.

According to the report, the postponement of ethics measures should be seen as a failure, as should the fact that the police do not have a sufficient number of investigators specializing on issues of corruption.

Another negative aspect the report underlines is that the financing of non-profit organizations from state or local budgets is still non-transparent.

The government endorsed the anti-corruption strategy for 2008-2012 on April 3 last year.
