PM proposes reducing ministries

RIGA-Latvian Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis has proposed a strategy forrestructuring the government by reducing the current amount of ministries totwelve. As a matter offairness, each ruling coalition party would lose one minister.

Godmanis told reporters that the strategy included merging the WelfareMinistry, Health Ministry, Children, Family Affairs Ministry and the SocialIntegration Ministry into one Ministry of Family, Health Care and SocialAffairs.
