Drug bust in Lithuania

VILNIUS- Two Latvian citizens have beendetained in the northeastern Lithuaniancity of Rokiskis for smuggling 51,000 litas (14,800 euro) worth of illegalcigarettes.

The detained traffickerswere carrying 25 boxes of contraband cigarettes worth some 51,000 litas, the Lithuanian Customs Department said ina statement to the press.

At around 13:00 on Feb. 9, customs officers pulledover a KIA automobile with a German license registration. The vehicle had tintedwindows and was dirty; leading the officials to believe the two had beentraveling on dirt roads.  

Both the driver andpassenger are Latvian citizens. The trunk and inside of the car was filled withblack plastic bags containing LM brand cigarettes from Russia.

All possessions have beenconfiscated and the two Latvians have been detained in Lithuania.
