TALLINN- Despite the sliding economy, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip reports good tax revenues for the start of the year.

"I know that receipt of taxes has been unexpectedly good, considering general negative background. Compared to the forecast we have 10 pct of planned and more than 9 pct of budget," Ansip said in a press conference.

It is still unknown how much value-added tax will be collected, but the prime minister does not expect much negativity.

Ansip did however say that Estonias main export markets are in a slowdown, and that as goods elsewhere grow cheaper, Estonian goods are no longer as desirable.
