Brazil enters visa-free agreement with Lithuania

VILNIUS 's Lithuania has officially approved a visa-free regime with Brazil.

President Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania thanked BrazilianHead-of-State Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and other state institutions of Brazilfor their contribution to lifting the visa regime for Lithuanian citizens.

Brazil has completed all internal proceduresnecessary to begin the visa-free regime with Lithuania.

Adamkus thanked thepresident of Brazil, for holding true to his promiseand saw to unrestricted mobility for Lithuaniancitizens.

"The elimination ofBrazilian visas offers to our people the opportunity of unrestricted mutualtravels. This is of utmost importance for a stronger friendship between Lithuania and Brazil, and good news for the Lithuanian community in Brazil which is one of the largestcommunities in the whole of Latin America," Adamkus wrote in his letter tothe Brazilian Head-of-State.

The Lithuanian president said that lifting of the visa regime willpromote bipartite relations, bring the people of the two countries closertogether and contribute to implementation of Europe-Brazil strategicpartnership by developing cultural, academic and economic ties.
