Brazil enters visa-free agreement with Lithuania

VILNIUS 's Lithuania has officially approved a visa-free regime with Brazil.

President Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania thanked Brazilian Head-of-State Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and other state institutions of Brazil for their contribution to lifting the visa regime for Lithuanian citizens.

Brazil has completed all internal procedures necessary to begin the visa-free regime with Lithuania.

Adamkus thanked the president of Brazil, for holding true to his promise and saw to unrestricted mobility for Lithuanian citizens.

"The elimination of Brazilian visas offers to our people the opportunity of unrestricted mutual travels. This is of utmost importance for a stronger friendship between Lithuania and Brazil, and good news for the Lithuanian community in Brazil which is one of the largest communities in the whole of Latin America," Adamkus wrote in his letter to the Brazilian Head-of-State.

The Lithuanian president said that lifting of the visa regime will promote bipartite relations, bring the people of the two countries closer together and contribute to implementation of Europe-Brazil strategic partnership by developing cultural, academic and economic ties.
