Latvian sets hot air balloon record

RIGA- Gunars Dukste set two new Latvian records for hot-air ballooning on Jan. 4, adding to the already impressive record-breaking streak for the nation.

Settled in the balloon "BizBizMarite", he began in Estonia, floated over Latviaand Lithuaniafor eight hours, a new record for longest flight. The distance traveled was 225 km. Unfortunatly, due to weather conditions, Dukste was blown back over the border into Latvia, and failed to complete his expected flight.

Dukste also announced his plan to set the Latvian record for highest hot air balloon altitude. It will be announced later this week by how much he set his two records.
