Latvia's end of year debt at 28.548 billion euro

RIGA-Latvia's external debt came to agrand total of 28.548 billion euro as the third quarter of 2008 comes to aclose.

According to figures from the Bank of Latvia, this total is up 18 percentfrom 2007.

Among the various sectors holding debts, the government's long term debtsalone totaled around 1 billion euro consisting mostly of bonds and notes.

The Latvian central banks short term loans came to about 5.2 million euro.

The number of direct investments totaled over 2 billion euro.
