Deadly train wreck in Ventspils

RIGA- A fuel cargo train crashed into a stationary train in the northern city of Ventspils killing two. The Latvian Railway Company reported that at 9:50 on Dec. 20, the crash occurred, resulting in ten fuel tankers catching fire.

 Crews have the blaze under control and are busy removing the wreckage. Crews are also working to repair damaged tracks.

Officials expect passenger train services to be resumed shortly.

The environmental division of the Latvian Railway Company reported that they have sprayed absorbent around the area to keep the fuel from being absorbed into the ground, causing environmental harm and pollution.
