The Latvian Transport Ministry has announced that Lattelecom e-services provider has won the tender on introduction of digital TV in the country. The ministry said that six companies applied for the tender -- DauTKom TV, Latvijas Valsts Radio un Televizijas Centrs, Televideotikls, Lattelecom, Baltkom TV SIA, and foreign company TDF S.A.S. The applicants submitted proposals for the rights to perform transition from the analogue to digital terrestrial television in Latvia and ensuring transition of digital TV until Dec. 31, 2013. The transmission to digital TV should be carried out by Dec. 1, 2011. "It is a challenge Lattelecom has deserved, becoming the largest technologies company in Latvia," Lattelecom Board Chairman Juris Gulbis told BNS.
The business and conference hotel Nordic Hotel Forum that opened in Tallinn's Central Viru Square last December received an official four-star certificate from the Estonian Hotels and Restaurants Association for its first anniversary. Feliks Magus, board chairman of Nordic Hotel Forum, said the stars are not obligatory for hotels but their existence is very important for clients. "Despite the fact that opening of the hotel fell into the unfavorable end-of-year period, Nordic Hotel Forum's occupancy rate at the peak of the season was 62 percent. Such occupancy is a good result for the first year and does not lag much behind hotels that have been in the market for years," he said. Nordic Hotels operates Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn and Nordic Hotel Bellevue in central Riga.
