RIGA - The University of Latvia has adopted a new strategy vision to become the leading university in the Baltic Sea region and win a high position among European universities by 2019.
The main task of the University of Latvia is to get among the top 100 European universities in the coming ten years according to the strategy.
The strategy provides for three main strategic development directions: Excellence, creation and openness.
The task of each structural unit of the university is to stream for excellence in its field: science, creation, studies and so forth.
The University of Latvia in the next ten years plans to be open for Latvia, the world, individuals and the society, the national economy, culture and share its competence, promoting Latvia's competitiveness in varied national, regional and global context.
"The new strategy was needed not only for students, teachers and personnel. The vision of the University of Latvia is also one of the foundations for the sustainable and successful development of the Latvian state," said University of Latvia rector Marcis Auzins.
The new document has been prepared, taking into account the current global changes, focusing on not only individuals, but also economic welfare, sustainable and balanced development of the country.
