New car sales down 50 percent

TALLINN - New car sales in November fell by a staggering 53 percent year-on-year, figures by the Estoniancar sale and service companies' association AMTEL show.

A total of 1,147 new passenger cars were sold to the domestic market in November -- compared to the same month last year, the sale of new cars fell by 529 units, AMTEL said.

From January to November, 23,349 new passenger cars were sold to Estonian clients, one-fifth fewer than in the same period last year.

In a breakdown by maker, Skoda topped the list with 134 units, followed by Toyota with 122 units, Subaru with 91 and Honda with 75 units sold during the month.

A total of 269 small medium cars, 275 medium cars, six mini and small cars, 137 station wagons, 223 four-wheel-drives, 109 large medium cars and two luxury cars were sold.
