Gulbis out for season with injury

ST PETERSBURG - Famous Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis has announced that he will not finish the season after receiving an arm injury from a domestic accident.

Latvian-language daily Neatkariga Rita Avize reported that Gulbis was admitted to the Medem International Clinic in St. Petersburg on Thursday heavily bleeding from an arm injury.

The personal information protection laws do not permit the medics to disclose the health condition of the patients, which is why the news about the severity of the injuries cannot be particularized at present.

The type of the accident is also not specified. The only information available is that the accident happened in the early morning at the Grand Hotel Europe hotel. The injury was serious, as the athlete himself could not stop bleeding.

The announcement that Gulbis will not participate in the tournaments of this season and concentrate on the next season was posted on the homepage of Gulbis the day after the accident.
