Gulbis out for season with injury

ST PETERSBURG - Famous Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis has announced that he will not finish the season after receiving an arm injury from a domestic accident.

Latvian-languagedaily Neatkariga Rita Avize reported that Gulbis was admitted to the Medem International Clinic in St. Petersburg on Thursday heavily bleeding from an arm injury.

The personal information protection laws do not permit themedics to disclose the health condition of the patients, which is why thenews about the severity of the injuries cannot be particularized atpresent.

The type of the accident is also not specified. The only informationavailable is that the accident happened in the early morning at the GrandHotel Europe hotel. The injury was serious, as the athlete himself couldnot stop bleeding.

The announcement that Gulbis will not participate in the tournaments ofthis season and concentrate on the next season was posted on the homepageof Gulbis the day after the accident.
