Lithuania violates EU law

VILNIUS - TheEuropean Court of Justice has found Lithuaniaguilty of failing to observe its commitments and violating EU law. It is the first time that thecountry has been found to be in violation of EU laws.

The court found that Lithuaniafailed to fulfill a law requiring that the 112 Emergency Response Service isprovided with information on the location of all callers.

The European Commission had lodged a complaint against Lithuaniaregarding the violation to the European Court of Justice in June of 2007.

The country will not yet face any financial sanctions for the violation.
