VILNIUS - The Lithuanian Customs Criminal Board has arrested a group of smugglers attempting to bring thousands of packs of cigarettes into the country.

The three Polish citizens and one Lithuanian man were caught attempting to smuggle 24,500 packs of Russian-made Jign-Ling cigarettes into the country through Marijampole.

The men had attempted to conceal the cigarettes under a load of grain.

Over the first half of this year, the Customs Criminal Board has confiscated 16.39 million cigarettes that were illegally brought into the country.
