Lithuanian police make major smuggling bust

VILNIUS - The Lithuanian Customs Criminal Board has arrested a groupof smugglers attempting to bring thousands of packs of cigarettes into thecountry.

The three Polish citizens and one Lithuanian man were caughtattempting to smuggle 24,500 packs of Russian-made Jign-Ling cigarettes intothe country through Marijampole.

The men had attempted to conceal the cigarettes under a loadof grain.

Over the first half of this year, the Customs Criminal Board has confiscated16.39 million cigarettes that were illegally brought into the country.
