Silver medal for Estonia

TALLINN- The Estonian double sculls, Juri Jaanson and Tonu Endrekson, won silver medals on August 17 at the Beijing Olympic Games; the gold medals went to Australia, with the British pair winning bronze medals.

Jaanson and Endrekson finished third in the semifinals.

In the semifinal on August 13 Jaanson and Endrekson finished second, paving their way to the A-final.

Jaanson, born in 1965, took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and won the silver in single sculls. His Olympic debut was in 1988 when he finished eighth in single sculls and was fifth in the same category in 1998.

Endrekson, born in 1979, finished fourth in quadruple sculls at the Athens Olympic Games four years ago. Last year he won a bronze medal in double sculls at the  world championships in 1979.
