RIGA- Latvian residents, along with Estonians, can support Georgia not only by participating in street rallies, but also by purchasing Georgian goods, such as wine, imports of which have been banned in Russia, said Latvian daily Neatkariga.
Currently, Latvian people have not increased their purchases of Georgian wine or mineral water. The only exception is Maxima retail network who reported that sales of Georgian wine have increased by 7 percent in the past days.
Latvian people may either purchase Georgian products or donate to Georgia, like it is done in Estonia. There are Georgian red and white wines available in Latvia, as well as mineral waters Borjomi and Natahtari and other beverages.
Wine sellers and distributors have not yet noticed an increase of sales, but they are worried about supplies from Georgia diminishing as Georgian wines are quite popular in Latvia.
Pernod Richard Latvia Company imports Georgian wines Old Tbilisi and Tamada to Latvia, while Park MV Company imports more than ten different types of wine. Representatives of the companies said that production of wines has not been stopped in Georgia due to the military conflicts, and Latvian residents are invited to show support to Georgia by purchasing Georgian wine.
