Ukio profits stable

VILNIUS - During the firsthalf of 2008 Ukio Bankas earned LTL 50.6 million (14.5m euros) in non-audited netprofit, a modest 1.6 percent rise compared to the same period of 2007(LTL 49.8 million), the bank announced on July 10.

"The first half-year result shows that we can seek and set ambitiousannual targets. Next half-year we will actively work in developing theexisting and creating new banking services by paying still greaterattention to client service quality and expanding the network of ourterritorial sub-divisions all over Lithuania," Edita Karpavičienė,chairwoman of the Ukio bankas board, said in a company statement.

During the first six months of 2008 Ukio's assets grewby LTL 205 million or 5 percent and at the end of the period amountedto LTL 4.22 billion (1.2bn euros). The bank's loan portfolio 13 percent (net) from LTL 2.36 billion to LTL 2.68 billion.

Perhaps most encouraging of all, the number of the bank's activeclients jumped by 10,900, showing a 9 percent increase.
