VILNIUS -- The majority of Lithuania's inhabitants (78%) approve the position of
Lithuanian Government that the issue of reliable energy supply should be
considered in the European Union's negotiations with Russia, according to a Lithuanian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs press release.
The trends were detected by a national opinion poll about Lithuanian foreign policy initiatives conducted in May-June at the initiative of the of the ministry.
A similar proportion of Lithuania's inhabitants (72%) agree with Lithuania's position that the issue of Russia's obligation to cooperate with the EU in criminal cases, including the events of 13th January, 1991 in Vilnius, and the Medininkai massacre of 31st July, 1991 should be debated in the European Union's negotiations with Russia.
The majority of inhabitants (64%) think that the issue of compensation for damages to the people deported from occupied Baltic States should be also discussed in the EU's negotiations with Russia.
