Zappa has been cited as an inspiration for several artisticfreedom movements in the former Soviet Union and Lithuania.
Saulius Paukstys, who heads the local fan club in Vilnius is also aphotographer and was part of the movement to have a Zappa statue erected there.The bust was unveiled in 1995 and Paukstys thought that it would be a nicegesture to make a duplicate, and send it to Baltimore as a thank you gift "making thisbig personality"
After years of trying to convince both governments ofthe plan, he has finally had his first success as the mayors of both towns haveagreed to unveil the statue on Zappa's birthday December 21.
