VILNIUS- A group of Lithuanian show business stars are declaring their quest to "rescue the state" from both populists and the "circus" of the ruling bloc.

One of the initiators of founding the National Resurrection Party, TV show host and producer Arunas Valinskas said in a press conference Friday that the new party plans to replace both those who "promised order and justice and are now under arrest", and those, who initiated a bill prohibiting alcohol advertising, but whose representatives were engaging in "drunken lounging about the Seimas"

"How can there be a bigger circus than we're seeing now?", Valinskas, whose the party co-founders are no less flamboyant representatives of show business, often appearing in magazines and TV shows, criticized the current situation in Lithuania's political arena.

Valinskas noted that following the announcement of their initiative last week, the party already unites a few hundred members and will "undoubtedly" make the 5 percent barrier or voter support in parliamentary elections.

"I think we'll get quite a few votes off of all of the other parties", Valinskas said, adding that the new party will provide people with a chance to eliminate some of the agents of the current political arena. He deemed the current situation in interior policy an "absolute slough".
