Drunken riots near Latvian border

RIGA- Dozens of drunk Lithuanians on Saturday night after a group of youngsters at a party rioted in Latvian border-town Skaistkalne, damaging cars and windows.

Skaistkalne police department officer Rihards Sablins told BNSthat the fight started in Lithuania during a party at a club and some Latvian youngsters were involved. When Latvians decided to flee, Lithuanians followed them to Latvia.

Rioters demolished a phone booth, damaged road signs and broke several windows of a school. About 50 youngsters participated in the riot, but it is not known how many of them were Lithuaniansand how many Latvians.

The police plans to launch a criminal procedure.
