Drunken riots near Latvian border

RIGA- Dozens of drunk Lithuanians on Saturday night after a group of youngsters at a party rioted in Latvian border-town Skaistkalne, damaging cars andwindows.

Skaistkalne police department officer Rihards Sablins told BNSthat thefight started in Lithuania during a party at a club and some Latvianyoungsters were involved. When Latvians decided to flee, Lithuanians followed them to Latvia.

Rioters demolished a phone booth, damaged road signs and broke severalwindows of a school. About 50 youngsters participated in the riot, but itis not known how many of them were Lithuaniansand how many Latvians.

The police plans to launch a criminal procedure.
