Prime Minister Andrus Ansip expressed support for Turkey's accession to the European Union and recognized Turkey for its efforts in carrying out reforms. In a speech delivered at Ankara's Bilent University, Ansip said that previous enlargements of the European Union were indisputably successful, but it was no secret that there was reticence surrounding further enlargement.

Foreign Minister Urmas Paet  has once again condemned the violence in Tibet and underlined that  force could not be a solution of the problem.  The minister told reporters on March 18 that the problem would have be solved peacefully, by democratic means and by dialogue in which both the Chinese Government and the Dalai Lama would take part.  He said the international community should stand together on that issue and that economic and other interests must not prevail over human rights and democratic values.

The  Police Board is planning to announce this spring that it is to upgrade with new high tech cars both for patroling and traffic surveillance. As part of the tender the police also plan to get  37 minivans in police colors and with special equipment, two mobile vehicle in police colors and with special equipment, two nine-seater minivans  and 10 mid range cars  for the traffic police. In total the police plan to take a total of 227 cars on operating lease.
