VILNIUS -- As of 1 March, citizens of Lithuania can travel to Canada without the need for a visa, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has confirmed. The Government of Canada announced this decision on 1 March, in
Toronto.
"We welcome this decision, made by the Canadian Government, and together with the people of Lithuania are enjoying the opening of new possibilities for cooperation. It is an important step in the history of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Canada," said Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekūnas.
According to Vaitiekūnas, the fact that the Canadian Government made this decision means that Lithuania suits the requirements of a visa-free regime in the areas of persons' migration, document protection and border control.
"This decision is a result of good cooperation between the institutions of Lithuania and Canada," he added.
