Pop idol dies

VILNIUS - Renowned Lithuanian pop singer Janina Misciukaitedied in hospital on Feb 19, relatives have announced.

The singer, 59, was battling a serious illness, and was recentlyhospitalized in Vilnius.

Misciukaite's medical situation has been serious for some time. In mid January,she underwent surgery on the neck.

Misciukaite was one of Lithuania's most popular and enduring stars and was renowned for her frequent tours.
