AIRPORTS - Kuressaare eyes further expansion

TARTU - Fresh from adding new flights and completing an 18-million Estonian kroon (1.2 million euro) renovation project, Kuressaare Airport is now planning other structural upgrades that it hopes will lure larger air carriers and more passengers to the Estonian island of Saaremaa. Airport Director Mati Tang told The Baltic Times that plans are under consideration to lengthen the airport's runway to 2,000 meters from 1,300 meters, expand its apron, and install new navigational systems as well as upgrade the airport's existing ones.
