Sincerest form of diplomatic flattery

TALLINN 's It is understandable that a small Eastern European country with hopes of joining the European Union would look to Estonia for an example of how to go about things, but Bosnia-Herzegovina seems to be taking literally the idea of using Estonia as a template.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry has drawn the attention of the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Washington to "excessive similarities" between the design of their embassy's web page and that of the embassy of Estonia. In short, it looks very much as though Bosnia-Herzegovina simply copied the Estonian website, changed the names and pictures and saved the hassle of developing their own site.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina home page quickly disappeared, but at the time of writing, web surfers can still compare and contrast some of the other pages such as www.estemb.org (Estonian) and www.bhembassy.org/Embassy (Bosnian).

The design of web pages used by the Estonian Foreign Ministry and the country's embassies has been in use since 2002. Estonian representations all over the world use a uniform design for their web pages.

Looks like another case of 'E-stonia' leading the way in the digital revolution.
