OGRE - Latvia's third annual mushroom picking championship will take place at Tome, in Ogre distrcict on Sept. 15, according to the Latvian Nature Museum.
Participants will be able to participate in a mushroom gathering competition as learning about all things fungal with an exhibition on mushrooms prepared by the museum's specialists.
Teams with three participants each will compete in gathering mushrooms, overcoming various natural and artificial obstacles.
Awards will be presented for the heaviest basket gathered and for the most beautiful, interesting and unusual mushrooms, the most attractive team uniform and more.
The aim of the championship is to popularize and develop the tradition of mushroom gathering.
The Latvian Nature Museum's Mushroom Festival runs Sep. 12-16.
