Unemployment levels better than Euro average

BRUSSELS - Unemployment in the Baltic States is at a lower level than the European average, according to the latest Eurostat figures.

While the EU-wide average unemployment rate is 6.9 percent, all three Baltic States better that. Lithuania records the lowest figure at 4.7 percent, followed by Estonia at 5.1 percent with Latvia trailing on 5.7 percent.

The Netherlands has the smallest percentage of unemployed workers at just 3.3 percent, while Slovakia is the continent's unemployment hotspot at 10.7 percent.
