Delfi sold to Ekspress

TALLINN 's Estonian media company Ekspress Grupp has bought Delfi Group, operator of some of the Baltic's most popular Internet portals. The purchase price was 54.05 million euros.

Provided the purchase is approved by competition regulators, Ekspress Grupp will take over the stakes currently held by Interinfo Holdings (99.75 percent) and Interinfo Finland (0.25 percent).

Delfi and its subsidiary companies operate nine portals in the Baltic States and a news portal in Ukraine.

Sales revenue at Delfi group was 89.3 million kroons (5.7 million euros) in 2006 and the company's websites attract around 700,000 users per day according to company figures.

"Ekspress Grupp will become the Baltics' strongest internet company and most modern media concern. We are pleased to take on board the Delfi personnel who are the most professional team of internet specialists in this region," Ekspress Grupp's chief executive Priit Leito said.
