Lithuania retains oil analyst

VILNIUS (BNS) - Viktorija Babiciene, a financial analyst, has been appointed the Lithuanian economy minister's adviser on matters related to the country's oil concern Mazeikiu Nafta.

Babiciene will be responsible for contacts with Mazeikiu Nafta and its operator, US company Williams International, a spokesman for the economy minister said.

Oil purchase and negotiations with other companies will be among issues coming within the sphere of the adviser's activity.

Babiciene, who headed the analysis unit at the brokerage firm Suprema so far, will also advise the economy minister on various macroeconomic and financial issues.

The government is also due to appoint an associate director of Mazeikiu Nafta who will represent the state's interests in the oil concern.
