Ice fishermen dangle lines through holes on the slushy surface of the Pirita River in Tallinn. Warm weather has brought the icy season to an early end. Transport officials closed Estonia's two ice roads on March 9, declaring the ice now too unsafe to drive on. The ice roads, which ran between Rohukula Port and Vormsi Island, and from Haapsalu to the Noarootsi peninsula, were open for only three weeks during the unseasonably warm winter.
