Support for Latvia's membership in the EU declines

RIGA - In February 2007, support for Latvia's membership in the European Union declined among the country's population, the EU information agency reported citing a new public opinion poll.
While in January 31.7 percent of respondents saw Latvia's EU membership as a positive thing, in February their number decreased to 28.4 percent. The number of people voicing negative attitude towards EU membership, meanwhile, increased from 21.1 percent in January to 24.4 percent in February.
Those who voiced positive attitude towards Latvia's EU membership were mainly people aged between 18 and 39, respondents with higher education, ethnic Latvians, people with higher income.
