Latvian police detains a man with powerful explosives

RIGA - Latvian police detained a man near Riga Monday after finding a kilogram of TNT, a powerful explosive, in his car, the press service of the state police said.
The man, aged 36, was arrested by policemen from the central Latvian town of Sigulda outside a cafe in Incukalns town on suspicion of unauthorized possession of explosives. TNT was found in the man's Nissan Suny car.
According to police sources, the man was going to sell the explosive.
The man has a previous criminal record in connection with illegal logging.
Police has initiated a criminal process for unauthorized storage or sale of explosives, which is punishable by up to ten-year jail term.
Police is continuing investigation to find out where the explosive came from and whether there were any accomplices involved.
