Police uncover marijuana production sites

RIGA - The Latvian police have found an underground shed converted into a hempseed hotbed, which was used for manufacturing marijuana, in Kuldiga county in western Latvia.

A similar hatchery, though smaller, was found in Riga, Sigita Pildava.

The police have arrested one of the men suspected of production of marijuana; another suspect is on the run.
The group of people involved in the growing of hempseed and the preparation of marijuana have been under watch by police since the end of last year.

Last week the police detained the owner of the apartment in Riga. The apartment had a special lighting system installed in it, as well as equipment for maintaining certain levels of air temperature, humidity and a system of ventilation with an odor filter. The apartment also contained a computer-assisted system of watering the plants and some special chemicals used for improving the plants' productivity.

Police found 31 marijuana seedlings 's weighing six kilograms 's and books about growing marijuana, in the Riga apartment.
In Kuldiga county Police found a shed that was converted into a plant for growing marijuana. The surrounding marijuana field occupied 120 square meters.

Police found 618 marijuana seedlings 's weighing 28 kilograms 's as well as three kilograms of marijuana at the site.

The underground hangar was also used for drying marijuana, which is confirmed by the fact of finding a special press and
airproof bags for packaging of the dried products.
