Unemployment in Estonia among the lowest in EU

TALLINN - The unemployment figure in Estonia, 4.5 percent, was among the lowest in the European Union, Eurostat reported.
The Statistical Office of the European Union said in an overview published on Friday that unemployment was the lowest in Denmark where it was 3.3 percent in October. The data for other countries was from November, when unemployment stood at 3.8 percent in the Netherlands, 4.2 percent in Ireland and 4.5 percent in Estonia.
Unemployment was the highest in Poland, as high as 13.6 percent. In Slovakia the figure was 12.3 percent and in Greece 8.7 percent in Q3 last year.
The average unemployment in the community was 7.7 percent and in eurozone countries 7.6 percent. Among women, unemployment was slightly higher, standing at 9.2 percent; among men the figure was 6.3 percent.
In all there were nearly 17 million people jobless in the European Union in November.
