RIGA - President Vaira Vike-Freiberga is planning to spend this year's Christmas holidays writing a book on Latvian folk songs.
A French publishing house has already agreed to release the president's book to coincide with a French-Latvian cultural festival to be held in the springtime, her official spokeswoman said.
Vike-Freiberga has already authored eight books on Latvian folk songs. Prior to her election in 1999, she was a psychology professor at the University of Montreal. During that period she released nine books and about 160 articles and academic texts.
