Bumming around in Andrejsala

  • 2006-11-29
Andrejsala once operated as Riga's major port, and it still maintains some of its old functions. But right now, there are plans to develop the area, courtesy of famed Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. Until construction begins, however, the industrial wharf has been rented out to a group of bohemians.

On Nov. 30, in honor of Andrejs' name day, Andrejsala will celebrate with an open house party. You can come in, tour the exhibits the local young artists have set up in their home, or just breathe in the atmosphere of what may be the happiest port in the Baltics.
