Karlis Neilis was a member of the so-called "Tukums Group of Painters," along with Leonids Arins and Ansis Artums. And it's interesting to think that in the 1930s and '40s when Latvian artists were working in more traditional and realist modes, Neilis felt enraptured by modern French art. His work is on display at Gallery "Durvis," in Brivibas Square 21 in Tukums.
