VILNIUS - Chairman of Parliament's national security and defense committee, Algimantas Matulevicius, has asked the Prosecutor General's Office to launch a pre-trial investigation into what he sees as slanderous allegations of his links with Soviet security services.
In his letter to prosecutors, the parliamentarian cites a broadcast by a TV channel alleging that a KGB report names Matulevicius as a reliable person for the KGB and says about cooperation launched with him.
Matulevicius has categorically denied such allegations, calling the document that allegedly proves his ties with the KGB a fake.
Furthermore, Matulevicius has asked prosecutors to ascertain the source that provided the media with the slanderous information.
