VILNIUS - A baby boy born in the Vilnius maternity hospital earlier this week may be listed in books of records - he weighed 6.33 kg at the time of his birth, the Lietuvos Rytas daily newspaper reported.
The 59-cm healthy boy was born after a Cesarean section. According to the newspaper, this is the usual weight of a four-month-old infant. The average weight of newborns is approximately 3.5 kg.
However, Lithuania's big babies could not compete with the heaviest newborns of the world. Last year, a baby boy of 8 kg was born to a diabetic mother in Brazil. The boy died before his firth birthday.
