The Estonian Parnu County Court found a former agent of the Soviet security service, Vladimir Kask, guilty of crimes against humanity for participating in deportations in 1949 and sentenced him to eight years in prison with three years of probation.
The court also ordered Kask, 80, to pay 7,500 kroons (480 euros) compensation levies, Kristel Pedassaar, head of the Kurssaare court house of the Parnu County County Court, told BNS.
Two other former operatives, Rudolf Sisask, 80, and Sepan Nikeyev, 81, were tried for deportation. But their cases have been postponed as both are in poor health.
