Latvia's largest cosmetics and perfumery producer, Dzintars, increased sales to 7.03 million lats (10 million euros) during the first nine months of 2006. The company's profit grew 28 percent year-on-year to 393,000 lats. During the nine-month period, the company increased exports by 5.9 percent, as compared with the same period a year ago. Dzintars is owned by its employees and the Swiss company IKI.

The Estonian subsidiary of the Finnish mobile operator Elisa filed a lawsuit on Oct. 20 against the telecommunications company Elion Enterprises, claiming 12 million kroons (770,000 euros) in unpaid interconnection fees from 2005. The contested sum was for ending calls on Elisa's mobile telephone network that were started on the Elion telephone network. Elisa is a Finnish company operating in Estonia. Elion is the fixed-line and broadband subsidiary of Eesti Telekom, co-owned by TeliaSonera.
