The reconstruction of the main runway at the Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base in Zokniai has been completed. According to Air Force Commander Colonel Arturas Leita, after a two-year reconstruction the Zokniai airfield has become one of the most modern airfields in the Eastern Europe. "Now the airfield is capable of receiving aircraft of any type, even heavy strategic transport planes like the C-17 Globemaster and An-124 Ruslan," Leita said. "Zokniai is not only home to Baltic NATO air policing missions but also an important transport aviation point for the Alliance," the Air Force commander commented.
