Lithuanian residents have the most trust in President Valdas Adamkus and believe he performs his duties better than any other state official, a poll published in the weekly magazine Veidas showed on Thursday. The poll surveyed 500 residents of Lithuania's five largest cities Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys, and was carried out by the Fonitel call center on Sept. 2-6. The president enjoys the trust of 30.1 percent of the respondents, while another 31.7 percent said they did not trust any of those in power. Some 51.8 percent believe that Adamkus is performing his duties the best among all state officials. The president has somewhat less trust in the age group of 50-59, also among the unemployed and residents of Panevezys.
